OEM+ Porsche 996 C2 by Micarja Racing
Micarja Racing · OEM+ Philosophy

What Is OEM+ Porsche?

OEM+ Porsche is a development philosophy built around one principle: improve the car without losing the engineering logic, character and usability that made the original Porsche work.

OEM+ is not defined by a parts list. It is defined by the quality of the complete result.

Factory-level coherence The finished car should feel intentional, not assembled.
Engineering balance Performance, chassis, braking and usability develop together.
Long-term ownership Reliability and serviceability remain part of the brief.
The definition

OEM+ is not about adding more. It is about making the complete Porsche better resolved.

What does OEM+ Porsche really mean?

OEM+ is commonly interpreted as “Original Equipment Manufacturer Plus”. In practice, the term describes an approach in which improvements are developed within the logic of the original car.

Rather than treating wheels, suspension, drivetrain, bodywork and interior as independent upgrades, OEM+ development considers how each decision affects the complete Porsche.

The objective is not to hide the fact that the car has been developed. The objective is to make every modification feel as though it belongs.

Six core principles

The foundation of a credible OEM+ Porsche.

OEM+ quality is visible in the relationship between decisions rather than in the number of components replaced.

01 / Integration

Every change must support the whole car.

Design, chassis, drivetrain and interior decisions should reinforce the same character.

02 / Restraint

More visual impact is not automatically better.

Proportion, stance and detailing should strengthen the Porsche rather than overpower its original design.

03 / Balance

Performance must remain usable.

Power, braking, cooling, tyres, suspension and road behaviour need to develop together.

04 / Materials

Material quality must be more than decorative.

Leather, carbon, textiles and metal finishes should contribute to tactility, durability and visual coherence.

05 / Fitment

Precision determines credibility.

Wheel position, panel relationships, ride height and component interfaces reveal whether a project has been properly resolved.

06 / Longevity

The build must still make sense years later.

Reliability, serviceability, documentation and timelessness belong in the original specification.

Why OEM+ feels different

The strongest OEM+ Porsche often looks simpler than the work behind it.

When wheel fitment, ride height, material choice, power delivery, braking and visual detailing all support the same direction, no single modification needs to dominate the car. The result simply feels right.

OEM+ vs traditional tuning

The difference begins with the question being asked.

Conventional tuning often asks how a particular part or performance figure can be improved. OEM+ asks how the complete Porsche can be improved without losing coherence.

Traditional tuning

Component-led development

  • Often begins with an individual upgrade
  • Performance numbers may be the primary target
  • Visual impact can be treated independently
  • Parts may come from unrelated systems or suppliers
  • Integration depends heavily on final execution
OEM+ Porsche

Vehicle-led development

  • Begins with the intended character of the complete car
  • Performance is developed with chassis and cooling
  • Visual changes remain proportionally disciplined
  • Materials and fitment follow one direction
  • Reliability and usability remain part of the brief

Interior philosophy

OEM+ becomes most personal inside the car.

The interior is where material quality, ergonomics and craftsmanship are experienced every time the Porsche is driven.

Leather type, stitching, seat construction, trim materials, steering-wheel tactility and surface finishes should form one coherent environment.

Premium materials alone do not create a premium interior. Their placement, texture, durability and relationship to the original Porsche architecture matter just as much.

Platform character

OEM+ should respect what makes each 911 generation different.

There is no universal OEM+ specification. The correct direction depends on the architecture, age and character of the donor Porsche.

964

Mechanical clarity

Compact dimensions, analogue response and a strong foundation for carefully developed mechanical refinement.

993

Air-cooled maturity

A more developed air-cooled platform where chassis, powertrain and visual restraint can create a deeply resolved road car.

997

Analogue meets modern

A useful balance between compact 911 proportions, modern usability and strong engineering potential.

991 / 992

Contemporary capability

Sophisticated platforms where OEM+ development requires even more discipline to preserve factory integration.

Porsche 964 C2 4.0 NA

A naturally aspirated 964 is a strong example of OEM+ thinking: mechanical response, proportion, stance and character developed without turning the car into something it was never intended to be.

The objective is not excess. It is to strengthen the qualities that already make the platform desirable and then resolve the complete car around them.

Frequently asked questions

OEM+ Porsche explained.

What does OEM+ Porsche mean?

OEM+ Porsche describes a development philosophy in which the car is improved while preserving the engineering logic, usability and visual coherence of the original Porsche.

Is OEM+ Porsche the same as tuning?

No. Tuning can be part of a project, but OEM+ evaluates every change as part of the complete vehicle rather than as an isolated upgrade.

Can an OEM+ Porsche have more power?

Yes. Additional performance can fit an OEM+ philosophy when cooling, brakes, chassis, tyres, transmission behaviour and reliability are developed around the same target.
